A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

This is a school project.

I conducted a two-day training course on the GODOT engine as part of CYBERIADA  (funded by the Ministry of Digitization of Poland, and implemented by Teatrikon Foundation). Training took place at Bialystok city (Poland) in the so-called "Zubr base" ("Baza Żubra") on December 8-9, 2024 (2x 8h).

Students learned GODOT from scratch using a simple 2D project, which included simple gameplay elements, simple rules, and simple graphics (but with elements of animation, juice, and simple pause or settings screens). No time for music (my bad).

I was happy to see how Students worked and how they changed my ideas - for example: instead of double fire they did backfire! They told me they had a lot of fun!

During my training, I didn't focus much on game design or level design – things like balancing the prototype were secondary. For example, the asteroids had 77 HP, a single shot dealt only 17 damage, and a healing item restored +10 HP – seriously? I left those numbers for the students to experiment with. By the way, I handled the graphic assets myself ;-) It only took me 10 minutes in total to prepare them ;-D (except for the explosion effect – I borrowed it from... I don’t remember, my bad. So please don’t use it).

IDEAS -- a mines

One interesting thing was the idea of plant mines. This got me thinking about a brand new game concept (perhaps an exciting one!), where the player's objective is to protect a base (or maybe a friend? or cargo?) by surrounding it with mines (traps for asteroids).

Also, the second idea could be the game's win condition: instead of surviving waves of asteroids (boring), your goal would be to fill the entire space with mines ;-) Why not? ;-) Check out the last picture in my gallery. What do you think? Leave a comment!

CONTROLS:
WSAD for movement
mouse buttons for FIRE:
LEFT mouse button = single fire
RIGHT mouse button = double fire (requires energy)
MIDDLE mouse button = mines (requires energy)
